Client: YogaSource, Los Gatos Ok, so I’m a little late in the game in announcing this since it actually launched in December. Gosh, I’ve known the owner of this studio as long as she’s had her studio and have been designing and programming the site upgrades since 2005. The owner is the sweetest thing since my secret recipe for holiday fudge and it’s always a pleasure working on her site. The studio rocks. It’s my om away from home, if you know what I mean. And it’s where I got my own RYT for instructing too. Each year the studio gets bigger and the site gets bigger and more complex. Last year, the studio moved and trippled in size and it’s web site trippled as well. This year we got “flashy” and gave the site a proper face lift. It’s om-a-lishious baby! I don’t maintain the site, so if you see any blatent boo-boo’s, talk to the management. They may give you some zen chants to get over it . Oh and check out the site I designed and maintain for the sister studio in Palo Alto.

Client: YogaSource Palo Alto

yspa-designOh completing this site was a sheer zen joy. The owner gave her studio a new color face lift and wanted to do the same for the site. I just love it when clients know exactly what they want. She sent me the colors, asked for a clean look and boom, I just popped out this classical HTML/CSS web site for her that we update every week. The beauty of the site is its sheer simplicity. People want the basics: class times, schedule changes, new events, who’s teaching, a few fun photos.  And that’s what this site gives them. The owner is diligent about updating the content on her home page weekly and I just love having another yoga client! I wish I lived closer because I’d be going more often. The instructors are awesome. They’re knowledgable and fun.  If you’re in the Palo Alto area, bring your mat and leave the cell in the car.

Services: Logo Design, Web Design, Volusion Back-End Administration Set-up, CSS Programming

So a friend of mine, who’s an ASP.net programmer, has a friend who needs an e-commerce solution. Only my ASP.net friend is super busy and can’t handle the work. So who does she call? I still laugh about the irony. But the truth is, she knew that Volusion is a great shopping cart and could provide everything her friend needed. She also thought I was a decent designer who could quickly program the CSS for the Volusion cart.

It was really fun working on this site. All I had to do was think of a red bird, and a color that went well with red (other than blue). The company makes outdoor lighting. Wait, let me correct that. BEAAAAUUUTIFUL outdoor lighting. Gorgeous stuff. So we wanted the site to be very clean, airy and light to highlight the actual product rather than have the site design overshadow the beauty of the products. I think it came out fairly well.

The client maintains the site now and has since done a little odd programming that has shifted the design around a bit, so if you want a closer look, just click on the picture in this post. Otherwise, you can visit the site and buy some lights!

final-homeClient: NASA AMES Research Center Coral Reef Project   A friend of mine, we’ll call her Liane, is the head Ph.D of this awesome Coral Reef Health Research project at NASA Ames Research Center. She’s super smart and her research is uber important, so her Web site had to reflect how cool her research is, while maintaining a little of NASA’s look and feel. It’s NASA Baby!

meteo-indiaClient: Meteo-India

Services: Graphic Design, Logo Design, CSS/HTML programming for first page

Yes, work on yet ANOTHER mapping company! I forget how this company was referred to me, but they were really fun to work with. Really nice people. The company provides digital weather information services for India all from an office in Silicon Valley.

I always choke up when I’m asked to do a logo. Mainly because logos are so very personal. I was a bit proud of this one because it was easy to think of the nasty tornado weather pattens that can occur in India and play off India’s national flag colors. The hard part was type selection. But it all played out very well. The company wanted to sell its mapping and weather services while also providing some advertising revenue space on their site. I guess knowing the weather in India is a big topic!

sportveloServices: Web Design & Programming.

I’ve been programming the “Dandi’s” (as they’re known by close friends) for a few years now. They’re awesome and I’m thrilled to be their developer. This year, they’re revamping and going totally Blogo-matic… so they can update their site at the drop of a hat and don’t need to pay me $20 every time they miss a period or comma… Now how’s that for smart thinkin?

Unfortunately, the new update has been on hold. But we’re going to change that soon! Look for their spanking new site coming soon!

finalClient: FITTS Construction
Wild Dingo Digs Fitts Construction!
Wild Dingo provided an aesthetically upgraded Web site design for Fitts Construction, that is on par with this client’s awesome home remodeling construction business. I totally dig their great ideas about marketing their site with fresh content and search engine optimization.

cwfClient: Cleaning Wood Floors
This project was a sheer joy, being one of my first e-commerce sites. CWF moved their entry level yahoo e-shop to a custom branded e-commerce solution. I modeled the logo after their parent company, Wood Craft Wood Floors, which was hand drawn years ago by a random signage designer. Since it didn’t use any known typeface, I used an Arts and Crafts typeface for some of the letters and re-used some of the logo’s original letters upside-down or backwards. Pretty smart, eh?

cinimea-firstClient: Cinema First
Services: Graphic Design, Volusion Back-End Administration, CSS programming

My second Volusion client. Unfortunately, the site is no longer active. The client was a joy to work with. A real sweetheart with so much experience in life. I could chat for hours with her on who she met, where she traveled, what she learned. And then we had to work.

The site sold memberships to movie premiers. It sounded like a cool gig and a neat membership for real movie fanatics who’d love to meet their favorite stars. For a  mere $100/year you would get numerous opportunities to see a movie before the rest of the world AND meet the stars and directors. The client bought one of Volusion’s templates and I did some of the fun artwork like the tickets, photoshop work and backend Volusion set-up.

I don’t know what happened to the site or company, but I sure miss my chats with the client.
