"Look at THAT!"

Hm. On a walk through the deep forests in Friborg, my Siberian spots something. Whatever could it be?

Huh. That fence looks quite high for the typical herd of cows or horses which Juno by now finds completely boring anyway and ignores them even when passing within just a foot of distance.

A little closer now. Kicking myself for leaving the zoom lens at home. It seems that sometimes the Swiss raise and keep deer.

And this guy was making a ton of noise as we approached and passed. Seems he's uncomfortable with a Siberian stare-down, even at 800 feet away and protected by a 10 foot fence. Can't say I blame him. My Dansko's don't trust her either.

  1. Hi,
I've been following your blog since coming across it via your comments on another blog (theotherendoftheleash).

Speaking of long walks, I thought you might enjoy this description of a portion of the Grande Traversée des Alpes I found on a backpacking forum. Really wish I could do it myself; instead I'll just plug it to strangers who live in Europe and hope they blog about it 😉

  2. Are the Swiss farming deer or are these 'show' herds? We have lots of deer in the area, but none near our house. We would have enjoyed staring them down with you. They think we're ALL wolves, you know.
