When I met Mr. Wild Dingo, his home was filled with tons of sun themes. I like the sun. I like sunny days. But if given the choice of my favorite celestial object, sun, moon or stars, I'll pick the moon every time. And autumn harvest moons are my favorites.
I don't know why I'm fascinated with it or why it makes me so happy but it does. It's probably why I'm an insomniac. It's funny how bed time arrives just when things get interesting.
I took these shots right out my office window. I shot them in shutter priority and played with shutter speed. I learned a few things. Longer shutter speed does not necessarily mean a great moon shot. In fact if it's too long, what you gain in lighting you lose in the crispness of the moon.
Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on the clear, still lake.
Again, such wonderful photos! I'm more of a cloud guy myself! 🙂
Hmm.. have you tried sleeping during the day? Or at least napping? Mama is a night person, for sure, so we've learned to be night doggies. Of course, the only real difference for us is whether we're sleeping on our beds in the living room or the bedroom.
Maybe it's primordial. After all, Apollo was the Sun God, while the moon belonged to Artemis [Diana, for those Roman copy cats]. And in ancient Egyptian religion, Ra was the sun god, while the moon belonged to female deities: Hathor had a moon in between the horns in her head dress, Mut stretched over the night sky and sparkled with stars. You're just super feminine; not a bad thing at all.
Gorgeous photos! And you have a stunning view from your study. Much more beautiful than our suburban landscape.

Beautiful pictures. I love the moon but I'm not much of a night person or morning person for that matter. The Autumn moon is my favorite also. We get a wonderful harvest moon that glows red when it's full.
Great new masthead!! I love the harvest moon as well.
OMGP: oh my gawd particle that's a cool shot.
Yeah. I always associate the moon with femininity. Beautiful, beautiful shots of moon and clouds! And the new masthead rocks!
Wow those are fantastic!
