Diary of a Dog Nut

This blog began in 2005 with a silly press release about my dingo, Maggie, and her nemesis, Monsieur Le Pew.  In 2008, I rescued the cracker, Loki. I never had a high drive working dog so I did what every new dog owner does when they are in over their heads with a busy dog. I adopted a second dog, a husky, to "keep him busy." I know, Internet, I know. I didn't actually make my life easier. I just had more work. Life with the cracker and the criminal was filled with adventures and hard life lessons. Juno wrote masticated the book on crime and punishment, while the cracker policed her misdemeanors.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hot Dogs

This month's masthead celebrates one of America's favorite junk foods. I don't think I would ever got the Husky to do a single thing without the magic of hot dogs. Marker training rules. Even for low drive dogs, like the Husky. Loki? He'll do anything just for his marker word and some praise. For a hot dog, […]

Poser

Juno attended a Northern Breed dog show this weekend. I have to admit, I'm not into these "poser" dog shows. But it was a "fun-match," meaning, not very official and useful for anyone who is slightly interested in posing, err, I mean, showing their pure-bred dogs. I entered the show because I thought there were […]

No. You Can't Have Him.

Here are a few pix from our morning exercises. I'm warning you, he's trained to ignore hot dogs and tri tip from strangers. So don't even think about it. It's a good thing too. You just never know when it will rain hot dogs. Handsome patiently waits in the shade for his turn after Juno. […]

Just A Typical Morning at Wild Dingo

I grinned at her. The little husky on the floor, upside down, smiling a fluffy smile. She looked playful and eager, but not quite sure of herself, like a new kitten in a house where they don't care much for kittens.

Happy Anniversary Loki!

It was Loki's 1 year anniversary of coming to live with us yesterday. May 31, last year, we picked him up in San Francisco and drove him home. How time flies. So much has changed from being a demon dog who wouldn't allow me to put on a collar or leash  to upgrading his label as an "alligator […]

Don't Fence Me In

This month's banner is dedicated to Juno and her tenacity to escape any man-made device to keep her contained in one 3000 square-foot area. It really is absurd how hard we try to keep her from her natural roaming desires and to think that we could out smart her crafty ways. She's biten through wires, cables, […]

Formosan Madness Hits the US

Loki, Juno, Mr. Wild Dingo and I hit Capitola this week for some walking, pizza eating and shopping. I just love taking the quadrupeds places. For one thing, it's bred into Juno to be an explorer and nothing makes me happier than seeing my husky happy, because she has a knack for acting sullen when Scott's […]

Houston. We Have a Problem

We have a husky overvault in the main terminal causing a husky outage.  The safety door has been compromised. There's also a Q-tness factor that makes it difficult to correct the husky outage. Mission Control, what's your response? Houston: Beat the Husky.
