Sugar Plums

Sugar Plums

I'm so depressed. This time last year we had a Winter Woonderland. There was fresh snow and visiting family.

Now, there isn't a flake of snow in sight.  How could I top last year's masthead?

But my two beasts can sometimes be the sweetest little sugar plumbs I ever did see.

So this month's masthead is dedicated to the Sugar Plum; the candy and the holiday fairy. I have no idea what an actual sugar-plum looks like. And I have no idea what this plant and fruit is in these photos. But I'm calling them sugar plums. Just to make my life easy.

Apparently sugar plums aren't really plums at all.  They are a piece of dragée candy made of dried fruits and shaped in a small round or oval shape. Apparently there are many images for the sugar-plum on the web. Sometimes, they can be made of dried plums, apricots, figs or dates. And I thought the French language was one big contradiction.

"Princess, I have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head."
"Big boy, I got my sights set on something bigger than sugar plums. And they won't be in my head. Tee-hee."

  1. Our snow hasn't been up to snuff, either; we've got some, but not a lot. But it's DamnCold if that counts... (And seriously? -2F this morning? Oy.)

  2. Sounds just like our house - No snow, no family coming....

No snow to endlessly entice pups out of the house? No relatives to talk to and ignore the poor attention-starved animals?

Look at the up-side: That means there's more time for doting attention and goodies on your furkids!

  3. We don't know what those things really are, either, but we support your artistic license to rename them. However, we join Juno in choosing to dream of something else. Nommy treats, to be precise.

We're sure you'll get snow eventually. You're in Switzerland, for dog's sake. Meantime, you can help your mom get your tree up and decorated. We're betting you love doing that. Unless you're all going skiing for Christmas?
