Autumn is the year's last lovliest smile."
~ William Cullen Bryant

It's my absolute favorite time of year. And I spend it outdoors as much as possible. We had a feast for our eyes on a hike at Le Chalet à Gobet with Marley and his mom last week. I had all three dogs pose in this field. Odd how the least likely to maintain a sit-stay is the only one in the photo, huh?

Marley is good walking pal. Every time we see him, I'm sure he looks happy to see us. He howls and jumps around excitedly.

But he's a bit on the shy side and doesn't know what to make of Loki's crackery. So poor Juno has to be on the receiving end of the dork's autumn exhuberance. Ya, that's what I'm calling it.

He's lucky he has me to think of politically-correct nomenclature for his crack-a-tude.

The Swiss are real dog lovers. There are no fences at Chalet à Gobet. Just miles and miles of open fields and forest trails.  We see plenty of dog walkers on our hikes here.

Chalet à Gobet is a large park open to hikers, bikers, runners, dog walkers, horseback riders, cross country skiers and snow shoers. And while I've had my choice of beautiful parks in the states, I would rank this as my all time favorite.

"Princess, which road should we take?"
"Only the nose knows Big Boy."

Autumn's vibrancy. Simply delicious. Nature's last magnificient stand at life.

  1. Oh wow all those open fields. Just to see a green flat field would be fantastic. Even Khumbu wouldnt be able to disappear in that. And oh autumn colours, 2nd of the things I miss. Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing.

  2. Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons! I miss Europe so much and would love to go back again if the opportunity comes. Don't get me wrong, Singapore is amazing but... something is not right. I guess I don't belong here?!?

Anyway, you've been in Switzerland for a year, when are you due to fly back to the states?

Give Cracker and Juno a big hug for me and enjoy Swiss autumn. 🙂

    Love,

  3. Wow, and here we thought we had already seen the best of the country there - their autumn is spectacular.. Are you sure Juno and Loki will ever want to leave and come home?

  4. A delicious autumn, indeed! Does Marley get to play with Juno, being as he's a bit shy of Loki? Looks like he enjoys running with your two, anyway. The last photo reminds mama of a book she loved as a child: A Light in the Forest.
