Diary of a Dog Nut

This blog began in 2005 with a silly press release about my dingo, Maggie, and her nemesis, Monsieur Le Pew.  In 2008, I rescued the cracker, Loki. I never had a high drive working dog so I did what every new dog owner does when they are in over their heads with a busy dog. I adopted a second dog, a husky, to "keep him busy." I know, Internet, I know. I didn't actually make my life easier. I just had more work. Life with the cracker and the criminal was filled with adventures and hard life lessons. Juno wrote masticated the book on crime and punishment, while the cracker policed her misdemeanors.

Better Late than Never

We've been remiss at Wild Dingo to thank Mango for his generosity in Mango Minster. You see, about 87,000 months ago (to quote Frankie), Loki and Juno received a presie in the mail for their award winnings. We didn't actually expect any award presies, so it was a pleasant surprise.  Naturally, we took many photos […]

Training with Skillets

A while back a reader wrote in with the comment: "Why is your dog wearing a prong collar? There are other ways of controlling a dog." Well, I took her advice to heart and decided to try a different tool. What do you think? Is it working?

A Daring Adventure or Bust

May's banner is dedicated to the beginning of beginning a new beginning. "Come again," you say? It's been almost 6 months since we knew about our move to Luasanne, Switerzland.  And funny enough, we were informed the entire process would take only as long as 12 weeks. It's been about 12 weeks longer than the 12 week […]

SAR a Hot Dog Hostage

It was a busy weekend at Wild Dingo. Our Saturday obedience class with Loki & Juno was was pretty much a disastor and made me want to crawl into a hole.  But that's another story. By Sunday, I was seriously wondering if Loki was going to be in a working mindset for SAR practice. We haven't […]

Friday Randoms

We're getting ready for a busy weekend, starting with a day of errands downtown with the beasts today, then all-day training on Saturday hopefully followed up by Sunday morning SAR practice with Loki. I haven't done SAR with him in months. I hope he knows what to do! Here are a few random photos to […]

Planning Ahead

It's a bit early but Loki and Juno have begun to plan for the big move. "Hey Princess, since we'll be living near a lake, should I pack my float-able toys?" "Dude, we live 15 minutes from the ocean now. You've never swam in it. What do you think?"

Misery Loves Mr. Wild Dingo

Or is it Mr. Wild Dingo loves Misery? I can't decide. You see, Juno loves to play the misery card when Mr. Wild Dingo showers her with attention. I know, I know. Dogs don't like to be held or hugged. But honestly, I could hug Juno for 10 minutes and she'd thump her tail the entire time. […]

How to Chill a Hot Dog

Our friend, Tartok over at the Herd Annex asked Loki for a little help in squaring a beef with his sister Ruby, who's been gangin' up on him.  (Let's all hear a collective, "Awe!")  Loki has a bit of experience with a bossy Siberian dame so he happily stepped up. Here are a few of Loki's best tips on How […]
