"Who is Savadear?" is one of my most precious memories of living abroad, before I knew I had been sick with Lyme Disease. It's a cute story so if you haven't read it, check it out.
Eight years, 25 doctors, no diagnosis. Five infections missed. One immune system, shattered. Five years in treatment. Two years of IV and needles, daily. Forty medications, 20 supplements, 8 alternative therapies. One retirement plan, depleted. Thirteen years of life passing. Mostly recovered but mainly managing. This is Lyme Disease. This is my story.

Just one more of this Borrelia-killin'' badass carrying that huge hunk of pollen. His queen better be all, “Oh baby, you da man! Nobody works it like you. Now come over here and give me a little honey.”
How cool is this dude carrying is his pot of gold? Apitherapy (treatment from bee venom via the sting) is starting to catch on in the Lyme disease world, ever since one woman nearly died from Lyme disease but recovered quickly when she was attacked by a swarm of African Honey Bees.

A few weeks ago, Mr. Wild Dingo came home with a tick bite on his ankle from walking the dogs on NitWit trail behind our home. Since then, he’s been on a mission to shrake the leaves and keep the trail clear of tick hiding places. In addition, we both wear ridiculously tapered pants and […]
In 2009, Juno was hospitalized for 5 days with a high fever and joint inflammation. Our fabulous vets at The Whole Pet Vet and SAGE Centers for Veterinary Care ran a full panel of tick disease tests and the results were negative. We were at cross roads of how to treat her illness as we had […]
May is Lyme Disease Awareness month. As author Amy Tan points out, the greatest harm that borrelia causes is ignorance. I can’t pretend to understand why the CDC and IDSA dig their heels in further on denying the existence of chronic Lyme disease when there is a mountain of evidence-based science to support the fact […]
A bug so small, my naked eye could only see an unrecognizable gray speck on the flower. It’s hard to believe that a bug so much smaller than this is wreaking havoc on my own and thousands of people’s bodies and lives. When you start exploring tiny plants, animals and microorganisms, you suddenly realize how […]
