Wild Distractions

How was your morning? Mine? I spent 87 minutes watching ants work.  What can I say? Nature captivates me so much so that it inspired me to invest in a macro lens and focus on small bits of nature. Photographing bees, butterflies and insects as if I were a street photographer, I captured little moments of joy, effort and wonder.  I turned that small world into my first book which helped me realized one of life's great lessons: nothing is too small to have an enormous impact on the world.

Bumble Bee Booty

I'm taking a break out of my Lyme disease soapbox for some cuteness! A Bumble bee's booty is totally adorbs! No? Almost as cute as a Siberian's jodhpurs or a corgi's butt. I'm loving my macro lens. Can you tell?

All my […]

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring is here in Santa Cruz Mountains and that leaves only a short window of time to photograph the variety of blooms in vibrant greens, blues, pinks and reds before it all turns golden brown. I walk by numerous varieties of wildflowers everyday on my dog walk and I've never given them a glance, much […]

When Being Strong is the Only Choice

It's been a challenging week for me and the dogs. Between being stuck at home resting and going to multiple doctor appointments, there were no walkies. They took it with grace and didn't complain much. I think they know more than we imagine they do. It breaks my heart to deny them their daily walk and […]
