Diary of a Dog Nut

This blog began in 2005 with a silly press release about my dingo, Maggie, and her nemesis, Monsieur Le Pew.  In 2008, I rescued the cracker, Loki. I never had a high drive working dog so I did what every new dog owner does when they are in over their heads with a busy dog. I adopted a second dog, a husky, to "keep him busy." I know, Internet, I know. I didn't actually make my life easier. I just had more work. Life with the cracker and the criminal was filled with adventures and hard life lessons. Juno wrote masticated the book on crime and punishment, while the cracker policed her misdemeanors.

Lookin' for Love

She's come so far. Sometimes it's hard to believe. We still have strong memories of her growling and running away from Mr. Wild Dingo and insisting on her aloof ways. She still growls from time to time at him, sulking because Mr. Wild Dingo may have given Loki attention before giving it to her, or gave him more attention. You […]

When Nobody's Looking

Every now and then, they make a break off the path and have a game of tag in the rows of vines. Though I don't encourage it and certainly call them out of it, I can't help but laugh when it happens. This time it was too perfect of a set up for a little […]

Lacus Lunático

Instead of our usual Sunday stroll to Morges for ice cream, Mr. Wild Dingo and I took the dogs to the Roman Ruins at Vidy this weekend. It's a short drive from our house. Then again, everything is a short drive around here. On one hand, Switzerland is an incredibly compact country on the other, […]

Rough Tough Cream Puff

"I swear to Dog, Mom, I didn't do this to Loki." It hurts just looking at this picture. Loki is having another round of Limp Tail Syndrome. The vet and I have no idea why. I never saw him injure it. He's much too sensitive to Juno's softer play style to really rough handle her to the […]

"Mini Me, if I ever lost you I don't know what I would do. I'd probably move on, get another stuffy. But there would be a 15 minute period there where I would just be inconsolable."

Broken Record

"Juno. Junooooo! Juno come!  JUNO! COME!" It's the same song every Sibe-owner probably sings when they walk off-leash with a Husky. I'm constantly recalling her as she pushes the boundaries of straying too far from us. Generally speaking, she's not so bad off-leash, given she's a Sibe. If I catch her body language cues in time, I […]
